AI in Digital Forensics

Digital traces are becoming increasingly relevant in digital forensic investigations. Unfortunately, investigating authorities are overwhelmed by the sheer volume of digital traces. The question now is whether artificial intelligence can help with this problem.

However, artificial intelligence technologies have drawbacks and practitioners must evaluate ethical considerations while using such technologies in digital forensics. It is necessary to evaluate how the evidential value in digital forensic investigations is influenced by artificial intelligence.

This project is funded by the bidt (Bayerische Forschungsinstitut für Digitale Transformation) in a research project with the name “AI-Driven Digital Forensics: Enhancing Evidential Integrity and Efficiency through Generative Artificial Intelligence in Knowledge Representation“.
