Digital Vehicle Forensics
As vehicles become increasingly connected, autonomous, and software-defined, they also become rich sources of digital evidence. Digital Vehicle Forensics is an emerging field within cybersecurity and forensic computing that focuses on extracting, analyzing, and interpreting data from modern vehicles to support investigations, diagnostics, and threat analysis.
At the Security Analytics Research Group, our work in this area bridges automotive systems engineering, forensic science, and security analytics. We study how vehicle-generated data can be used to reconstruct events, detect tampering, and provide insights into both physical and digital incidents involving vehicles.
Key Research Topics:
- In-vehicle infotainment system forensics
- Evaluation of digital vehicle forensic tooling
- Identification and evaluation of unconventional vehicle data sources
- Extraction and analysis of digital vehicle data sources
